With more than 14 years of experience in original landscape design and construction, Russell Cletta is a Landscape Architect with a commitment to the artistic combination of form and function in the creation of innovative and dramatic landscapes.

In close collaboration with high profile clients and architects, Russ’s designs reflect an intimate understanding of each site’s specific natural surroundings as well as the interaction between the individual and their environment.  Drawing from his extensive technical and artistic backgrounds each design reflects a natural inclination toward simplicity and elemental forms that yield dramatic contemporary landscapes with functionality that evolves over time to accommodate the changing needs of the user.

Born from his love of travel and exploration, Russ’ designs are influenced by the diverse ecologies, cultures and design concepts encountered while abroad, in addition to the spectacular wide-ranging landscapes of California, his home for nearly two decades.  Cultivated by the climate and lifestyle of California, his site specific designs reflect a desire to eliminate the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces and to effect a seamless combination of architecture and landscape.

Prior to joining ValleyCrest, Russ was a partner for 8 years in the design/build firm Griffith and Cletta, Inc. specializing in artistic residential projects in Southern California.  Russ’ work has been consistently featured in several publications including Garden Design, Sunset Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, and Celebrated Living as well as Secret Gardens of Hollywood and Private Oasis by Rizzoli Press.
